About the Staff

A traditional horseman with 25 years experience working, training, and living with horses.  Specializing in a traditional natural approach, Owner operator, Todd Kern, is a native of the Shenandoah Valley, born in Winchester, graduate of Handley High School and James Madison University.  Educated in the History/social science field.  For some 10 years worked as curator and director for two local civil war museums. Specializing in cavalry, this study connected the two interest, history and horses.  Occasionally our horses, and people, are hired to act in historical features or films. No longer working in the museum field he spends most of his time with the horses at Valhalla stables and the hounds of Valhalla where he is the huntsman.  He continues to be involved in history through educational programs, film, and guiding battlefield tours.

Along with Todd, the staff at Valhalla stables includes Michelle Dupwe, Bridget Kenney Kern, and Emmy Bossung, Emmy teaches most of the beginner and children's lessons.
